However you measure it, it’s been the best time of my life. I love my little guy and I though I had known I’d love being a mother, I had no idea how much I’d actually, truly enjoy it. The cuddles, the smiles. Even the not so fun times (crying instead of napping) are made up for ten fold by the joy Ephram brings to our little family.

My little boy is already 5.5 months (nearly 6!) and I’m here to say, it really does just keep getting better. He smiles all the time, his personality is showing through more everyday, he’s interested in our food and even shared a banana with me yesterday, he loves the cats, jumps all the time, even in our laps, and squeals with excitement. It’s unbelievable to look back at his newborn photos and believe it’s the same little guy.

I’ve been trying to take at least a daily photo of him on my phone, but every week or so I attempt at grabbing a few “real” photos of him as well. This is one of my favorite outfits for him. Got it from Baby Gap with a gift card (why buy clothes for myself when there are adorable onesies on clearance for him?). And later this day, he ended up staining it with squash (thank god for OxyClean!). We headed downstairs for some carpet playing where the light is nearly perfect.

Now that Ephram is growing up, he’s more and more interested in toys and other babies. So we’ve been attending a few playdates with friends. This little guy is a few months older than Ephram and already crawling now!

Unfortunately, I had to work yet another Fourth of July. Though this year, I’m sure Ephram wouldn’t have enjoyed fireworks anyways. (Crossing my fingers for next year or the year after because I’d love to take some cute photos of him enjoying the lights in the sky) Well today just happens to be the beginning of my weekend. So Ephram and I are celebrating today (while daddy sleeps after his overnight shift)! Hopin’ for some fun times at my dad’s house with family and then a walk downtown with the husband this evening.

Shanna and Eric‘s little boy arrived two weeks ago. Though sadly he had to go straight to the NICU to be monitored for breathing issues. Hard news to hear only 4 months after dealing with my own little boy being transferred to Children’s Hospital just 4 days after birth. Luckily it wasn’t anything too serious, he got better very quickly, and they were able to bring this sweet boy home just a few days later! He was such a sweetie when I was visiting. Loves being held of course, and has the strangest little cry. (Don’t worry Caleb, you’ll figure out those vocal chords soon.) Thanks for letting my stop by, Shanna!

My baby is 4 months old. Four months!

I look back at pictures from just 4 months ago and I can’t even believe he was ever that small. It just doesn’t seem possible. He’s such a chub now, so that skinny little thing that wasn’t given food for 4 days in the NICU, doesn’t even seem like the same little boy. He eats like crazy now (usually 6-8 ounces a feeding!). I’m interested to see what he weighs at his 4 month check up on Friday, but just two weeks ago he was already over 15 pounds.

Well, I might be a little partial, but I have been loving seeing Beau become a father. He absolutely loves Ephram and it makes me so happy to see Beau enjoy taking care of his son. And I know it will only get better as Ephram gets older. When he’s able to hike in the woods, kick a ball, help in the garden, go storm chasing, Beau and Ephram will be even closer than they are now.

 
Maybe what makes him the best dad ever is that he never flinches about changing diapers! :)

Ephram, I cannot believe you are already over 3 months old. You simply amaze me everyday, and even though it can be frustrating not knowing why you cry sometimes, you also bring me more happiness than I could have ever imagined. I’m anxious for the days when you can communicate to me with words, but at the same time, I hope the next days, months, and years go by much slower than recently. You are growing up way too fast and I’m not sure I am ready for the days when I won’t be able to hold you as much.

By the way, you look just like your daddy. I am hoping to capture a picture of you, dressed in overalls, so we can do a side by side view soon of the two of you at this age.
