On Sunday, my oldest Grandpa turned 98 years old. How amazing is that? He still walks almost everyday, which makes me so happy. He absolutely loves seeing Ephram, his first great grandchild. In addition to my Grandpa’s birthday, we celebrated my favorite little cousin, Jenny’s birthday. I so wish we could see her more often. I remember babysitting her when she was Ephram’s age. (hmm.. I’m now anxious to go find my film pictures of her that I took) While celebrating birthdays we blew bubbles, played in the grass, talked about iPhones and life, and enjoyed one of the last great days of Summer.

However you measure it, it’s been the best time of my life. I love my little guy and I though I had known I’d love being a mother, I had no idea how much I’d actually, truly enjoy it. The cuddles, the smiles. Even the not so fun times (crying instead of napping) are made up for ten fold by the joy Ephram brings to our little family.

My little boy is already 5.5 months (nearly 6!) and I’m here to say, it really does just keep getting better. He smiles all the time, his personality is showing through more everyday, he’s interested in our food and even shared a banana with me yesterday, he loves the cats, jumps all the time, even in our laps, and squeals with excitement. It’s unbelievable to look back at his newborn photos and believe it’s the same little guy.

I’ve been trying to take at least a daily photo of him on my phone, but every week or so I attempt at grabbing a few “real” photos of him as well. This is one of my favorite outfits for him. Got it from Baby Gap with a gift card (why buy clothes for myself when there are adorable onesies on clearance for him?). And later this day, he ended up staining it with squash (thank god for OxyClean!). We headed downstairs for some carpet playing where the light is nearly perfect.

The busy summer of having a young baby continues. Hoping the blog will become more active once Fall begins. Until then, we are enjoying some beautiful flowers in the backyard while Ephram swings.

We spent a couple of days visiting my mom, Ephram’s grandma, this past weekend. Enjoyed some time on the boat as well. More pictures on Ephram’s website.

I knew I’d love motherhood, but it’s even more amazing than I could have ever imagined. Watching Ephram attempt new things everyday is simply awesome. This week, it’s all about holding the ball. And trying to stick it in his mouth. He makes the funniest grunts while doing it too.

Well, we sure don’t live extravagant lives lately. I must first say, we are very fortunate to never put Ephram in daycare, but in order to do that, my husband and I work opposite shifts, all hours of the day, any day of the week. So when we have time off together, we definitely take advantage of it. And though a trip to the River Bend Nature Center in Faribault isn’t exactly the best vacation ever, it made for a pretty good afternoon trip out of the house with Ephram.

And thanks to my wonderful husband for grabbing my camera from me and taking pictures. While I hate being on camera, I do wish for more pictures of Ephram and I together. The first one is a little blurry (this may have been my fault for leaving the camera on manual focus…) but it’s one of my favorite pictures of E and me.
