Aquarium Pyramid at Moody Gardens
My mom flew in for a visit late last week and, since I knew it was going to be cool and rainy for most of her stay, it seemed like the perfect excuse to head down to Galveston and check out Moody Gardens. We visited the Rainforest Pyramid about a month after we moved to Houston, but that was over 3 years ago! In fact Alwyn is now older than Ephram was during that visit!
This time we checked out the Aquarium Pyramid and it was just as fun. Especially since we decided the Friday before Spring Break would be our best day to visit to avoid a crowd. I know we won't have opportunities like that when Ephram is in kindergarten next year so I suppose I better start using his Friday's off more diligently!
There are three main cylindrical aquariums (& a tunnel?) inside the pyramid, and even without any crowds, we were a bit lost inside. But we haphazardly found our way to each exhibit and all the smaller tanks as well. Sometimes more than once.
Since I'm a lover of photos, I didn't think to take many videos. Luckily my mom did and the kids enjoyed re-living the visit that evening, watching the videos on her phone. It surprised me how interested the animals were in us humans and that was captured a bit better on video.
Somehow we wandered upon each main tank's feeding during our visit. Hence the closeups on these turtles who thought I had more lettuce for them.
Overall, a great morning activity for my 2 and 5 year old.
What are your Spring Break plans?
