It’s been a busy week, including a drive up north, great times in the woods (pictures to come, I promise), fall premieres of good tv shows, and a lot of rain. Therefore, I haven’t had much time on the computer. Probably a good thing. Sometimes, you just need a break.

But back to that rain. It is pretty crazy to think about, but remnant moisture from Hurricane Karl traveled all the way up to Minnesota and brought as much as 8-10 inches of rain to the southern portion of the state. I think our official total in Northfield was somewhere between 5-6 inches. Great for the plants. And it gave us a valid excuse to spend a whole day just lounging around the house as a family of three. But we live near a river and the rain was not so great for some homes and businesses near that river. Last I heard, the river was forecast to crest earlier this evening, so hopefully the water is already beginning to recede. These are a few images I captured this morning and then again this afternoon once the sandbagging really got underway. I don’t believe there is even an accurate reading for how high the river got since it exceeded the record flood level previously set.
