We don't get away very often. My mom came for a visit a few weeks ago and suggested we go somewhere. Just Beau & I. It didn't even occur to me until we we driving away early Saturday morning that that night would be my first night away from Alwyn... who recently turned two. Two! It's been at least two years since we had a night away.
We thought about heading to Austin or San Antonio, but nothing really sounded like "us". Instead we opted to head out to the Hill Country to hike. Something we can't do with a 4 and 2 year old without walking at a snail's pace and a billion snacks in tow. We got to Perdenales Falls about an hour after the sun rose. Did I mention we left our house at 5:30am? It was gorgeous.
Afterwards, we drove to Fredericksburg where they were having a Wine & Food festival. Lots of fun, but we wore out quickly after hiking all morning. I guess we're a bit out of shape after being slowed down by children the past 4.5 years.
The next day we were reenergized and ready to explore Enchanted Rock. This place was immediately added to my "bring the kids here when they're older" list. So beautiful. Especially at sunrise.
How did we go so long without a weekend away?
