Project Life 2014 : Weeks 21 & 23

Surprisingly, it took until June for me to hit a rut with Project Life this year. Past years it hit much more frequently. I think a lot of it has to do with being inside more now that the heat and humidity have returned to Houston. I find myself taking much fewer photos when we're inside. Luckily inspiration returned when my monthly Studio Calico kit arrived along with my order for the Mr. Huey's watercolors. Totally justified as my *own* watercolor set that the kids don't get to play with. I immediately opened up the kit and began painting the Watercolor Shapes.

Here's Week 21 (May 19-25).

This week's highlights included jumping on the bed, harvesting green beans, two thumbs up from Ephram's cardiologist, trying a new smoothie recipe, and a special visit from Beau's parents.

The beginning of the week included a particularly hard day for me, and because I think the boys may find it somewhat interesting when they're older, I included it in a bi-fold card.  This was the first time I attempted printing on a Project Life card and I was super surprised with how well it turned out!

To do this, I created a 3x4 outlined box template on a 8.5"x11" canvas in Photoshop and printed it.  Then I placed the text in the area I wanted it to print on the card, used double sided tape to stick the card onto the printing paper template, and re-fed it into the printer.  I was able to gently remove the card from the paper afterwards without any issues.

This particular card is from the Strawberry Kit designed by Emily Ley, and the journaling prompt I added was inspired by her new Simplified Journals (just released yesterday!).

I really love the greens and blues in this month's Studio Calico kit.  And so many of the cards lately have been artwork by themselves.

My layouts lately seems to always include 4 color 4x6s, 4 b&w 4x6s, alternating, with 2 or 3 3x4 photos in the middle.  It's become my go-to recipe for Design A spreads and it makes it SO easy to complete.

And with ease, comes extra time to play with a little watercolor paint too.
